PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily perform a transfer under optimum transfer conditions in the recording of various patterns of images, and regularly provide a satisfactory image. SOLUTION: A transfer bias power source 52 is made variable so that the transfer voltage can be set to a first level V1 or a second level V2. With respect to an image to be recorded by a recording part 500, whether the image is a binary image or half tone image, and the black ratio of the image are recognized by an image kind recognizing means 100a and a black ratio calculating part 9, respectively. A recording control part 10 controls the transfer bias power source 52 on the basis of the recognized image kind and black ratio by a transfer voltage control means 10a in such a manner that the transfer voltage is set to the first level V1 when the image to be recorded is a binary image or a half tone image with a black ratio of a standard black ratio or more, and to the second level V2 when it is a half tone image with a black ratio less than the standard black ratio. |
