PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce useless recording capacity by a constitution wherein the scale over flag is checked at a normal gain acquisition timing, a next low gain data is neglected if the scale over flag is negative and a low gain data is not acquired but a minimum necessary data is recorded in case of a signal which can be evaluated sufficiently with normal gain. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic reflected wave impinging on a specimen 26 at a required incident angle is converted into an electric signal with an amplification factor determined by a first preset sensitivity and a second preset sensitivity lower than the first sensitivity. The ultrasonic flaw detector further comprises means 27 for subjecting an acquired data to A/D conversion, means for storing the A/D converted data, means 29 for determining the peak value of A/D converted data, and means 21 for recognizing that the peak value has exceeded 100%. |
