<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the production of a smear by constituting so that snake path electric field from a video signal line to a reference electrode is reduced. SOLUTION: A display electrode 18 and the reference electrode 14 are provided on each pixel area on a liquid crystal side surface of transparent substrates arranged each other through a liquid crystal layer, and the electric field parallel to the transparent substrate is generated in the liquid crystal layer by voltages applied to these electrodes, and thus, light transmitting through the liquid crystal layer is modulated. Then, a video signal from a video signal line 3 through a switching element turned on by supply of a scanning signal from a scanning signal line 2 is supplied to each display electrode 18. In a liquid crystal display element, two lines of video signal lines 3 supplying the video signal to the display electrode 18 in each pixel area are arranged side by side in the direction of y between a pair of pixel areas adjacent to each other of respective pixel areas arranged side by side in the direction of x. Thus, the liquid crystal display element is constituted so that the video signal lines 3 aren't arranged between one pixel area between a pair of pixel areas and another pixel area adjacent to the pixel area.</p> |
