The invention relates to the extraction of concentrated beta carotene from natural products by using a novel countercurrent extraction method. Methylester(1) obtained from crude palm oil and an extraction solvent flow from the top and the bottom, respectively, into the extraction tower(3) pressurized at 0.4-2.8 atm, and then concentrated beta carotene(27) is obtained through the bottom. The ratio of the flow velocity of the extraction solvent to Methylester range 5:1 to 30:1. The invention further relates to a countercurrent extraction equipment, which is particularly useful for carrying out the process of the invention.
