1,112,006. Barges for liquefied gases. ESSO RESEARCH & ENGINEERING CO. 22 Oct., 1965 [18 Jan., 1965], No. 44861/65. Heading B7A. [Also in Division F4] A barge for transporting liquefied gases at a low temperature and atmospheric pressure has a hull comprising bow and stern portions 10, 11, Fig. 1, with a plurality of holds 15a therebetween, the hull being fabricated from panels 17, Figs. 3 and 5, which include shells 18 made of reinforced plastics material e.g. fibre-glaasreinforced polyester-resin, and having discrete bodies 19 lodged therein, which bodies are made of cellular thermally-insulating material e.g. foamed P.V.C. or polyurethane. The edges of each panel have a stepped configuration and a gap between adjacent panels may be closed by an epoxy-resin adhesive 21. The shells may be strengthened by webs 24; and connecting pieces 27, 28 may be used to interconnect the ends of adjacent rows of panels, these pieces being similar to the panels. Hatches 16 in a deck 13 give access to the holds. |
