The light-weight vehicle has a chassis carrying a hydraulic drive to displace the vehicle and actuators for the working equipment carried by the vehicle. The vehicle carries two hydraulic pumps (6,7) connected into two independent hydraulic circuits (8,9). One circuit supplies the drive to the vehicle and the other supplies the ancillary equipment carried by the vehicle. The two pumps are driven from a common power source (10). The vehicle is propelled by two hydraulic motors (11) which are connected in series with an electro-distributor (24). The waste handler has extending arms to collect waste and hydraulic cylinders to move the collector over the vehicle and tip the waste into the collector chamber on the vehicle. A control device (52) controls an automatic braking circuit (53) of the vehicle to be stopped by passage of a second electro-distributor (25) in a dead point position.
