PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new negative electrode active material which can compensate for drawbacks of conventional secondary batteries, a negative electrode using the same, and a secondary battery. SOLUTION: This secondary battery, having a cell 1 in which an active material made from metal tin or a mixture of metal tin and tin oxide is used as a negative plate 3, a nickel hydroxide plate as a positive plate 4, and a KOH aqueous solution as electrolyte 2, has great advantages for practical purposes because it compensates for drawbacks of conventional secondary batteries. For the negative plate, the surface of a copper plate is covered with a sheet containing the negative electrode active material, and is further covered with resin having microholes, such as cellophane, so that short-circuiting between the negative and positive plates caused by dendrites formed in charging and discharging can be prevented to obtain the secondary battery excellent in charging-discharging cycle characteristic. |
