PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition containing respective specific ethylenic resin and modified ethylenic copolymer as resin components, having excellent flame-retardance, acid resistance, whitening resistance, etc., and especially excellent mechanical properties compared with those of conventional resin composition and suitable for wire-coating, etc. SOLUTION: The objective resin composition is produced by compounding (A) 100 pts.wt. of a resin component composed of (a) 60-98wt.% of an ethylenic resin selected from among ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer and straight-chain ultra-low-density ethylene-α-olefin copolymer and (b) 40-2wt.% of a modified resin produced by preparing a straight-chain ethylene-α-olefin copolymer having a melt-flow rate of 0.5-50g/10min, a density of 0.86-0.91g/cm<3> and an Mw/Mn ratio of <=3 (Mw is weight-average molecular weight and Mn is number-average molecular weight) using a single-site catalyst and modifying the obtained copolymer with a compound containing a functional group with (B) 5-250 pts.wt. of a flame-retardant. Theα-olefin to be used in the production of the component (b) is preferably octene-1.
