Pump with two enmeshed wheels, esp. for power-assisted steering

The pump has two gear wheels (4,5) which enmesh with each other inside a housing (1), and which are each rotationally fixed to a shaft (7,8). A drive shaft (9) is guided out from the housing, and is connected to a driving unit, and esp. to a power-assisted steering unit on a motor vehicle. The transmission connection between the driving unit and the pump has at least one stage of reduction gearing, and this may be accommodated in the pump housing. This may also take the from of a third gear wheel (6), which is mounted on the drive shaft and meshes with one of the pump gear wheels, and whose diameter is smaller than that of the latter.
