In a capless lamp 11 for use in Christmas tree lights, lead-in wires 18 forming the lamp contacts emerge from the underside of a rectangular shank 14 and are bent upwardly to lie in grooves 17 in opposite faces of the shank. In a holder for the lamp, contact blades 25 (Fig. 5, not shown) have longitudinal ribs (29) for engaging the grooves 17 and lamp contacts 18, the blades 25 having serrated side edges (26) which bite into the walls of slots 24 in an insulating housing 12 to retain the contact blades in a concavelybowed condition. The housing 12 is preferably formed as a single moulding of plastics material.</p> |
