The refrigerating unit (5), installed above the deep-freeze compartment (-35 to -40 deg.C) (2), includes a fan (6) circulating air round the latter. Part of the flow is drawn by a second fan (23) through an opening in an insulating partition (4) between the two compartments (2,3). Deflectors (24) direct the secondary air flow around the frozen-food compartment (-18 to -20 deg.C) (3) to rejoin the main flow through openings in the base of the partition leading into vertical ducts bypassing the secondary fan (23). Trays carrying food are inserted on side rails (7,8,9,10) in the appropriate compartment, with access through insulated front doors. Opt., the combined unit is operated as a two-compartment frozen-food cabinet.
