Transporter with endless carrier and guides forming item supports

Some of the supports (10) are fitted out with a clamp which entraps the e.g. printed circuit boards (6) resting on the supports and so forcibly locates them. The clamp exerts a vertical force on the boards and should include a leaf spring (12) which is fixed to the chain or chain link of the chain conveyor (2) acting as transporter. A block (13) connected to the spring is placed between two adjoining chain pins (8), or a block has two holes for the respective chain pins. The block is fitted with a stepped nose piece (15) used to hold the board etc in place and a variant spring is fitted with an encircling strap for preference. The action of the spring produces a force in the block which acts both downwards and to the side opposite to the chain as compared with the nose on the chain side of the block which is used to locate the circuit board on its support for the e.g. soldering operation. The spring is an inverted U shape which terminates in the pin-held (14) block (13).
