A cassette housing driving apparatus in which a driving force switch device is installed in a gear train so that the driving force is exclusively connected when a cassette loaded. The housing driving apparatus has a power relay element which transmits the power of a capstan motor(17) to reel tables(8,9); a connection element which connects or disconnects the power relay element; and transmission element which transmits the rotational force of the power relay element to the cassette housing. The manufacturing cost of the player is reduced and the assemblage thereof is simple.
