Operating sliding gate panel for moulding or other machine

The sliding action for a guard door, or similar, on a machine is governed by hydraulic pressure acting on both sides of a piston within a cylinder to which a belt is attached which drives a slide fixed to the gate panel. The sliding panel is attached to a slide (19) attached in turn to a flexible band (15,16) the ends of which are connected to each side of a piston (12) which divides the cylinder (11) into two hydraulic fluid filled chambers (13,14). The band passes over rollers (17,20) so that the piston position accurately determines the position of the slide and hence the panel. Electromagnetic control valves within the control unit (24) govern the position of the piston.
