PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately judge a track to move on and improve visibility by displaying characters in preset shapes moving along a road display to move on a display screen when an own vehicle is located just in this side of a crossing. SOLUTION: A microcomputer 5 inputs signals from a GPS receiver 2, an azimuth sensor 3, a speed sensor 4, an input 8 and a memory 9 to compute the location of an own vehicle, judge the condition of the own vehicle, process display data and program characters to be operated, and inputs necessary map information from a CD-ROM player 6, depending on their input, to display a map, the shape of a crossing, the direction of movement, the location of the own vehicle and the characters in a display 7. On a display screen, route guide is performed by a track guide display with a human type character A simulating a human being or an automobile type character B simulating an automobile in such a manner that the characters are moving along a road to move on. This is understandable, similar to a scene actually visible through a window of the vehicle. |
