Flower bulbs and perennial plants can be kept for a longer time in the resting state by storage in an airtight package contg. a gas mixt. The packaging is of a synthetic material, esp. a laminate of polyethylene and polypropylene, and partic. semipermeable. The gas mixt. contains esp. 0.1-10 (0.1-5) vols. % of O2, 0.1-20% (0.1-5%) of CO2, the rest is N2.
