PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the reflection type liquid crystal display element which makes a background bright and reduces the coloring of the background by improving the effect of color compensation by a phase difference plate. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display panel constituted by interposing a nematic liquid crystal layer 7 which is twisted and oriented at 180-270 deg. between a couple of substrates 4 and 10 having oriented film layers 6 and 8 and electrodes 5 and 9 formed on their internal surfaces has at least a single-layered polyacrylate phase difference plate, a single-layered polarizing plate, and a single-layered reflecting plate. To increase the effect of color compensation, the wavelength dispersion value (=▵n (450nm)/▵n (550nm)) of refractive index anisotropy of the liquid crystal is 1.10-1.14 and the wavelength dispersion value of ▵n of the phase difference plate is 1.10-1.12. |
