PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain an excellent reproduction image whose motion is smooth by setting a retrieval start position of a frame reproduced next from a mean distance between image frames. SOLUTION: A control section 8 is provided with a signal processing section 9 or the like. Prior to reproduction of a fast feed, fast rewinding image, desired data in data such as data of a maximum and minimum interval between I frames, data of a mean interval between I frames and maximum and minimum value are obtained from a compressed image frame (I frame) of image data only by applying the in-frame prediction method to the image data appearing sequentially on time base in the real time reproduction where high efficiency coded moving image information. Furthermore, in the case of reproducing the fast feed and fast rewinding image conducted after the reproduction in the usual reproduction mode, the retrieval start position by which sequential I frames are retrieved in a short time by using data of the mean interval between I frames and data of a maximum value and a minimum value of the interval between the I frames obtained before. |
