Antibiotic compositions comprise an antibiotic other than cycloserine or O-carbamyl-D- serine together with an antibiotic potentiating amount of a mixture of cyoloserine and O- carbamyl-D-serine, the word "antibiotic" being defined as a drug for use by man which is produced by a micro-organism and in dilute solution inhibits or destroys other microorganisms, and their chemically synthesized equivalents, and also synthetic chemotherapeutic substances such as sulpha drugs. The antibiotic may be bacitracin, zinc- or manganese-bacitracin, bacitracin methylene disalicylate; neomycin; penicillin or procaine-penicillin; tetracyclines, particularly tetracycline, oxy- or chlor-tetracycline; tylosin; chloramphenicol; erythromycin or a sulpha drug such as sulphanilamidoquinoxaline, suiphamethoxypyridazine, sulphathiazol, sulphanilamide, sulphamethazine or sulphadimethoxine. The compositions may include a carrier and be in forms for oral administration, such as pills, pastes, capsules or tablets, or for parenteral administration, e.g. oily or aqueous injections; they are especially for administration to domestic animals, as growth promoters, for which use they are admixed with animal feed. |
