A replaceable filter element and its detachable internal support are enclosed by a filter casing with a lid. The internal support is mounted within and separable from the lid. The filter element surrounds the support, and is of zigzag folded construction. The inner support (3) and annular filter element (10) fit closely together, held frictionally on conical mating surfaces. Pref. the inner support (3) can rotate, when connected into the screw-on cover (2) of the casing. The end near the rotatable mounting is sealed, separating the dirty and clean sides. The inner end of the annular element, in the axially closed region has a ring (11) sealing internally and/or externally.
