A method for the extraction purification of at least one substance to be isolated from a liquid medium, comprising the steps of adding to the liquid medium a vapour-entrainable organic compound having a Lewis-type acid-base molecule where at least one N, O and/or S atom forms one or more active sites provided with a free electron pair in resonance with at least one other pair on the molecule, said compound being added in a sufficient amount to produce a reaction product from a balanced reaction between the organic compound and said substance(s) to be isolated, and to precipitate the balanced reaction product, filtering the precipitate, vapour-entraining organic compound therefrom, and collecting the substance to be isolated in a purified form.
