PURPOSE: To generate and utilize microwaves with various wavelength by resonating a microwave generated at the time of cumbustion by a cavity resonator like a metallic grating and extracting the resonated microwave from an accessory waveguide to the external. CONSTITUTION: A burner 1 is covered with a cylindrical metallic grating-like cavity 2 having structure fixing a waveguide 3 to the center of its side face. Since the diffusion of a flame generated from the burner 1 is interrupted and extinguished by the surface of the metallic grating, intermittent combustion is executed. When it is defined that the wavelength of the generated microwave in free space isλ, the radius (a) and height (d) of the cavity 2 are set up so as to satisfy (1.84/a)<2> +(π/d)<2> =(2π/λ)<2> to generate resonance in a TE111 mode. Thereby a flame generated at the time of combustion is confined in the metallic grating cavity 2 surrounding the periphery of the flame and a component matching the dimension and shape of the cavity 2 among microwaves existing in the flame is resonated in the cavity 2 and led from the waveguide 3 to the outside. Consequently a microwave can be generated without using electric energy and utilized.
