摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable printing of high resolving power and high and low density levels by separating a back electrode and a shield electrode by an insulating material, and allowing a current with a specific value to flow to a shield electrode when a printing aperture part adapts potential difference across the shield electrode and an individual control electrode. SOLUTION: In direct electrostatic printing(DEP), electrostatic printing is applied to a direct receiving member support 109 from a toner transport means 101, by a printing head structure 106 including a back electrode 105 and a shield electrode 106b separated by an insulating material and an individual control electrode 106a combined with a printing aperture part 107. When the toner transport means 101 allows a cloud 104 of dry toner particles to be present in the vicinity of the printing aperture part 107 and the printing aperture part 107 adapts potential difference of 200 V across the shield electrode 106b and the individual control electrode 106a, a current of max. 50μA is applied to the shield electrode 106b.
