[Also in Division G4] A wear-resistant member 50, Fig. 2, comprises a supporting plate 51 and a plurality of ceramic or cermet segments 52 bonded to the supporting plate. The segments are fixed by a resin adhesive in a recess 53, and ground and polished flush with the utrecessed part of the plate. Examples of segment materials are: sintered alumina, borides, chromium oxides, zirconium oxide, tungsten carbide and titanium carbide. A segmented wear-resistant plate 5, 6 may be used at each end of a coin passage 28, Fig. 4, in a coin counting and/or sorting machine. The sides of the passage are formed by guides 1-4, Fig. 4, and Fig. 5 (not shown), having ceramic or cermet wear strips 11, 12, 21, 22 which may be in one piece or in segments, the guide 2, 4 being adjustable by a polygonal cam 40, Fig. 4, for different coins. Small coins fall through the passage 28. A belt conveyer 36 feeds coins along the passage 28, past a counting wheel 39, the coins being thrown into the passage 28 by a rotary disc 60. A ceramic guide 24 on the part 4 is opposite an arcuate entrance member 34.</p> |
