PURPOSE: To obtain the subject gene useful for diagnosing or studying the glucolipid metabolism function and glucolipid metabolic disturbance diseases of rats easy to handle as a kind of experimental animal. CONSTITUTION: This gene coding rat GM2 activator protein is obtained by screening, a cDNA library made from the RNA extracted from rat epidermal cells using e.g. a mouse GM2 activator protein gene as probe. This gene codes, e.g. an amino acid sequence of the formula.
