PURPOSE: To obtain an inhibitor of a nitrogen monoxide synthase (NOS), having inhibiting actions on the NOS and effective in treating and preventing shock, hypotension, chronic articular rheumatism, ulcerative colitis, ischemic encephalopathy, etc. CONSTITUTION: This inhibitor of an NOS contains a compound of the formula (ring is a 3-7C cycloalkyl; R<1> is H, a 1-6C alkyl, a 2-6C alkenyl, a 2-6C alkynyl, a 1-6C alkoxy, etc.; R<2> is H, a 1-6C alkyl, a 2-6C alkynyl or a 2-6C alkenyl) or its acid addition salt as an active ingredient. The inhibitor can be prepared into a solid or a liquid peroral agent, a parenteral injection, a preparation for external use or a suppository and the daily dose thereof is 1-1000mg/adult in the case of peroral administration and 100μg to 100mg at a time administered once to several times in the case of the parenteral administration. The compound of the formula has high specificity especially for the inducible type NOS and is useful for the diseases and further stress gastric ulcer, Crohn diseases, autoimmune diseases, tumor, arteriosclerosis, malignant anemia, pancreatitis, nephrotic syndrome, insulin-dependent diabetes, Parkinson diseases, leukemia, etc.
