PURPOSE: To preclude the possibility of reproducing a still image on a monitor screen or being a black screen state on the way of reproduction of moving image data by revising a read speed of a read means and a rotating speed of a drive means when read failure of video data is detected so as to control the device to execute reading again. CONSTITUTION: Reading of image data is carried out of an image recording disk of CD-ROM drives 60a-60d and when the data are illegible, retrial is implemented. When the data are illegible regardless of nearly five times of retrial, the data are regarded as defective chapter. A CPU 38 counts the number of defective chapters and when the number exceeds 5, the disk is discriminated to be a defective disk and it is commanded to the drives 60a-60d storing the defective disk to control the disk at a double speed. Then the read speed is doubled and the number of times of retrial is revised into 10 times. Thus, even when there is much dirt, dust or flaw, a defect of an image such as reproduction of a still image or a black screen can be prevented. |
