摘要 The appts. has an optical detector or pick-up which detects arcs inside the encapsulated switch system. The arc is fed to an analyser via an optical waveguide (3). The light detector is made of a ball (1) of optically conductive material and is connected to the optical waveguide (3). Materials to scatter the light are provided in or on the ball (1). An optical waveguide mounting aid (6) may be fixedly connected to the ball (1). The ball (1) and the mounting aid (6) may be made of one piece. A colour pigment may be provided in the optically conductive material of the ball (1) A scatter coating may be applied to the ball (1) e.g. by etching or by coating the ball (1). The optically conductive material may be made of plastic or glass. A test light may be coupled inside the ball (1) via a second waveguide (5). The two waveguides (3,5) may be coupled to the ball (1) asymmetrically to each other.
