PURPOSE: To more accurately support the head part of an occupant seated on a seat in a prescribed position of a head rest at the time of rear-end collision of an automobile, and sufficiently absorb impact force about to be applied to the occupant from the seat by a seat back of this seat even in this case. CONSTITUTION: A seat back 7 is composed of a seat back frame 9, a shock absorbing means 16 arranged in an internal space of the seat back frame 9 and a cross member 19 installed on the seat back frame 9. A head rest 11 is arranged above a seat back 7, and is supported with the seat back frame 9. The cross member 19 is formed in an almost bilaterally symmetrical shape, and a midway part 21a of the cross member 19 is positioned on the rear side more than the shock absorbing means 16. An air bag 26 which rapidly expands forward on the basis of impact force applied to a car body and gradually contracts by receiving external force thereafter, is arranged on the front side of the head rest 11. |
