The holder has at least two edge pieces (14,16), especially two oppositely facing extrusions, in which the sign board's two opposite sides are mounted. The edge pieces have slots (20,22) for holding the main sign board (18). Near each slot is a recess (24,26) containing a clamp (28,30) by which the sign board is clamped between one clamping surface (40) of the clamping element and an opposite facing side (42) of the slot. The clamps have a flat (32,34) by which the main sign board is released. The clamping element acts upon a squeezable element (36,38) which has a contact surface for the main sign board.
