Diesel engine with turbocharger

The diesel engine has units to calculate the temperature of the compressed intake air in the cylinder, at the upper dead centre position. Other units (48) lower the loading pressure of the turbocharger (45), when the temperature of the intake air has risen above a set level. Further units increase the effective compression ratio, when the intake air temperature has risen above this level. There are further units (36, 40, 18) to determine the rotary speed of the engine (10), an air volume supplied to the cylinder, and a fuel volume supplied to the cylinder. The unit to calculate the intake air temperature acts using this data.
