PURPOSE: To provide a current position computing device that is able to seek a vehicle position in a highly efficient manner, and to avoid any inconvenience in the case where a correction coefficient for correcting a distance coefficient is not reset for hours. CONSTITUTION: A microprocessor 214 seeks an error in a travel distance according to a vehicle travel distance calculated, a vehicle traveling direction detected and map data showing a road map at a curved part of a road, and on the basis of an error found out, a correction factor for compensating a distance coefficient is formed and during the travel of the vehicle, the distance coefficient is corrected successively by this correction factor. In the case where this correction factor is not reset on the basis of an error in a new travel distance at an interval till the vehicle travel the specified distance since the correction factor has been set up, an absolute value of the correction factor is decreased in direction of coming nearer to zero. |
