ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC CARRIER AND ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC DEVELOPER USING SAME

PURPOSE: To suppress the falling of protrusions and to prevent the lowering of the image density of a toner image by forming protrusions on the surfaces of resin coating layers with fine particles of a resin having a great affinity for the resin of the resin coating layers. CONSTITUTION: Protrusions are formed on the surfaces of resin coating layers formed on the surfaces of magnetic particles with fine particles of a resin having a great affinity for the resin of the resin coating layers to obtain the objective electrophotographic carrier. The protrusions do not fall from the resin coating layers by shear generated by the stirring of the developer in a developing unit. The resin of the resin coating layers is preferably (meth)acrylic resin, styrene resin, styrene-(meth)acrylic resin or fluororesin. Fine particles of a curable resin similar to the resin of the resin coating layers and so cured as to suppress dissolution in a solvent are suitable for use as the fine particles.
