<p>2.1 Optical transmitting and receiving device having a laser, a monitor diode, a wavelength-selective directional coupler, a receiver diode, and optical waveguides required for light guidance. In order to configure such an optical transmitting and receiving device as compactly as possible, a high degree of integration is required. 2.2 All components are integrated monolithically on a substrate. A transition of the waveguide from the system waveguide (6) onto a glass fibre (10) is provided.
