PURPOSE: To produce a hot-dip aluminum plated steel sheet excellent in corrosion resistance and heat resistance and to provide a method for producing the same. CONSTITUTION: The hot-dip aluminum plated steel sheet in which the surface of the steel sheet is applied with an aluminum plating layer contg. 2 to 15% Si, <=1.2% Fe, 0.005 to 0.6% Mn, 0.002 to 0.05% Cr, and the balance substantial Al and the boundary between the coating layer and the steel sheet is applied with an alloy layer with <=7μm thickness having a compsn. contg. 20 to 50% Fe, 3 to 20% Si, 0.1 to 10% Mn, 0.05 to 1.0% Cr, and the balance substantial Al has excellent corrosion resistance and heat resistance. The steel sheet can be obtd. by executing plating in a plating bath contg. 3 to 15% Si, 0.5 to 3.5% Fe, 0.05 to 1.5% Mn, 0.01 to 0.2% Cr, and the balance substantial Al or in a bath in which the total of the concn. of Zn and Sn in impurities in the plating layer is regulated to <=1% as well.
