An undersea hydraulic coupling having a ring-shaped metal seal 33 that is held in place between the female member body 21 and a sleeve-shaped seal retainer 30 is disclosed. The annular metal seal 33 includes a lip or leg section 35 which is clamped in place between the female member body 21 and the seal retainer 30. A hollow portion 34 of the seal 33 extends radially inwardly from the lip portion 35 of the seal and is expansible to form a fluid tight seal against the body of the male member 10. The hollow portion 34 of the metal seal 33 is preferably cylindrical in cross-section and is sufficiently flexible in response to fluid pressure to form a fluid tight seal between the female member 20, male member 10, and seal retainer 30. Fluid pressure enters the hollow portion 34 through passage 36.
