The method for estimating the flow of water at the outlet of a catchment basin includes an initialising stage (21) wherein the catchment basin is divided into a set of basic catchment areas (BVE), and each BVE is assigned a first datum representing the hydraulic distance (L) between the BVE and the outlet, and a second datum representing the transit time ( tau ) of the BVE water over said hydraulic distance; and a flow estimation stage (22) periodically including the steps of estimating (29) a basic amount of rainwater from each of the BVEs, and calculating (210) the flow rate at the outlet from the basic amounts of rainwater each of which is delayed by a time substantially equal to the transit time assigned to the corresponding BVE. |
