PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of an input operation by performing dictionary retrieval while converting the character type of an input character string corresponding to a character type conversion table with which alphanumerals and Japanese syllabary (KANA) are mutually converted according to standard JIS keyboard arrangement. CONSTITUTION: Concerning a KANA/Chinese character (KANJI) conversion system for simultaneously converting plural character inputs, the correspondence of alphanumerics and KANA according to the standard JIS keyboard arrangement is registered on a character type conversion table 3 as a table. When any character string is inputted from a keyboard 1 by an input means 2 and a function key (type convert key) is pushed down, based on this character type conversion table 3, inputted alphanumerics are converted to KANA and the KANA are converted to alphanumerics respectively by a character type converting means 4. Thus, the character string inputted by the error of character type can be converted to a character string according to the proper character type without necessity for an inputting person to input that character string again. |
