PURPOSE: To provide a high efficiency linear type ultrasonic motor at a considerable low cost as a result of extremely simplified design and a highly efficient mass production method. CONSTITUTION: An ultrasonic linear motor comprises a ring-shaped or disk- shaped sinking comb type stator 1 generating traveling wave vibration in circulation by means of an electromechanical energy conversion element, a rotor forcibly contacting to the surfaces of sinking comb of the stator 1 and rotating and driving by receiving the movement of the wave front of traveling-wave with friction, and a roller (rotor roller 16) rotating together with the rotor. While the outer peripheral surface of the roller is forcibly contacted and restricted by a wall surface 30 at one side of a non-vibrating rail 29, a frictional thrust is generated along the rail 29 by the rotation and driving of the rotor as a result of providing a rolling element (roller 25) forcibly contracted to a wall surface 31 facing the rail 29. |
