In order to obtain a particularly small format in a scissors-like tool for a surgical instrument with two interconnected arms which can be elastically pivoted between a spread open position and a virtually closed position by gripping a sleeve, which is axially movable in relation to the scissors-like tool, to a greater or lesser extent, it is proposed that, to form the arms, a rod of elastic material have a front diametric recess from its free end connecting with another rear diametric recess rotated about the longitudinal axis of the rod through 90 DEG in relation to the front recess, both diametric recesses be interconnected by transverse recesses running transversely to the longitudinal axis of the rod and extending over opposite quadrants of the cross-section between the two diametric recesses, while the two quadrants therebetween have no such transverse recesses, and both arms be permanently bent upwards into the spread open position. The description also relates to a process for producing such a scissors-like tool.
