The method of magnetising the switch magnetic release involves magnetising the permanent magnet of the release. The permanent magnets are magnetised not only according to a given trigger current but also according to a predetermined trigger rail power. Thus, the magnet is magnetised according to the product of the trigger current and the trigger voltage. The magnetising is preferably carried out such that the trigger power remains within a predetermined range. Preferably, both the magnetic release or trip current and voltage are measured to determine the power where the product of the two values is derived using an electronic multiplier. To measure the voltage, the line in the switch which leads to the trigger coil may be tapped. To measure the current a measurement resistor may be inserted into this line.
