Solar cell arrangement with maximum light utilisation

The arrangement (10) has multiple, e.g. four, rectangular cells and perform three functions: it can monitor brightness; it can supply power to devices such as roller shutters; and it can produce a signal when the sun's position is related to a time. The sunlight falls on the solar cells (11-14) in different ways because of the use of screening elements (15) between the individual cells. A combination of different signals is produced in an evaluation unit which detects the sun's position. By connecting this to a control unit, any solar powered equipment, e.g. blinds, can be operated directly, depending either on the light intensity or on the sun's position, and not on the operation of a time switch.
