Furnace chimney seal

The sealing system to hold a furnace pipe (10) in a cylindrical chimney sleeve (14) has a base ring (1) and clamping ring (3) as the clamping system, with an inner ring section (5, 6) at the furnace ring (10) at right angles to the axis (A) of the pipe (10). The inner ring sections (5, 6) of the base ring (1) lie flat on a ring flange (13) projecting at right angles from the chimney sleeve (14), and are secured to it. The ring seal (2), of silicone, is between the inner ring section (5) of the base ring (1) and inner ring section (6) of the clamping ring (3), to give a heat resistant elastomer seal (2). The clamping action is applied by clamping screws (21, 22), to clamp the clamping ring (3) along the axis (A) to the base ring (1), and apply an axial squeeze to the seal (2) so that it expands at least partially radially inwards to the furnace pipe (10), through its elasticity. The base (1) and clamping (3) rings are of metal plate, or of moulded heat-resistant plastics layers or of ceramics.
