PURPOSE: To exactly synthesize a plurality of image information, regardless of the detection error of a positional sensor, regarding a two-dimensional image pickup type scanner performing the reading of two-dimensional image information. CONSTITUTION: This scanner is provided with an image pickup means 1 reading an original two-dimensionally and converting the reading into image information, a coordinate detection means 2 detecting the image pickup location of the image pickup means 1, an overlapped position calculation means 3 calculating the overlapped portion in the plural image information based on the image pickup location detected by the coordinate detection means 2, an edge detection means 4 performing the detection of the edge for the image information within the overlapped portion calculated by the overlapped portion calculation means 3, a mapping means 5 mapping the plural image information on a prescribed coordinate plane by adjusting the location of the edge detected by the edge detection means 4 and a synthesizing means 6 synthesizing the plural image information mapped by the mapping means 5. |
