PURPOSE: To form an excellent image at all times through the use of an optimum image forming parameter in which a toner deposition amount of a test toner image is accurately detected without being affected by a characteristic fluctuation in a photoreceptor or a development agent. CONSTITUTION: A prescribed test toner image is formed on a photoreceptor 6 by using developers 9y, 9m, 9c, 9k. An AIDC sensor 214 senses a toner deposition amount of the test toner image to be formed. A printer control section 201 decides a grid potential Vg of a charger 8 and a development bias potential Vb based on the detected toner deposition amount and forms a prescribed image by using the decided grid potential Vg and development bias potential Vb. Furthermore, the printer control section 201 revises an image forming condition of a succeeding test toner image based on the detected toner deposition amount so as to be sensed at a region having a high sensing sensitivity of the AIDC sensor.
