PURPOSE: To provide a propeller shaft for absorbing impacts by constituting a female shape member of a hollow pipe and providing a step portion between a spline portion and shaft portion to be axially deformed or broken when a strong impact load is applied back and forth. CONSTITUTION: In a propeller shaft 1 having a female shape member 2 and male shape member 3 fitted each other through a spline, at least the female shape member 2 is composed of a hollow pipe. The diameter of the yoke side shaft portion 2b of the female shape member 2 is made larger than the diameter of a large diameter part of a spline part 2a so that a step portion 2c is produced between the spline portion 2a and shaft portion 2b. |
