PURPOSE: To provide the stereoscopic image display device with which a stereoscopic image can be visually recognized without any special spectacles and further numbers of people can simultaneously perform stereoscopic viewing. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a pair of image display means 13A and 13B for respectively displaying left and right television images, a pair of image display means 11A and 11B for backlight, and television camera 15 for photographing the image of a viewer and detecting the position information of the left and right half faces of this viewer. Besides, this device is provided with a half face position measuring means 16 for preparing and outputting images for backlight respectively corresponding to both the left and right eyes of the viewer based on the half face position information measured by this television camera, half mirror 14 for synthesizing left and right images to be viewed by the viewer, and convex lenses 12A and 12B for respectively converging the backlight through this image display device and the half mirror 14 onto both left and right eyes 17A and 17B of the viewer. Then, the optical axes of the convex lenses 12A and 12B are respectively deviated from the centers of image display devices 13A and 13B. |
