摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To reprocess the spent fuels of a fast breeder and a light water nuclear reactor in the same facility by mixing the spent fuels to the preset volumetric ratio at an initial reprocessing stage and, then, separating and removing a fission product. CONSTITUTION: Regarding light water nuclear reactor and fast breeder spent fuels resulting from the operation of a light water nuclear reactor 1 and a fast breeder 5, a fuel rod is sheared into small sections with shearing devices 3 and 7 and, then, fuel substances contained therein are melted with melting devices 4 and 8 by use of nitric acid. Liquids containing molten substances from the light water nuclear reactor and the fast breeder are mixed to the preset ratio in a melting and mixing device 9 and then, a fission product having a listed half-life is removed by a co-decontamination device 10 by use of a solvent. Then, for the manufacture 12 of a light water nuclear reactor MOX fuel, the mixed oxidized powder of Pu and U used for that purpose is produced with a mixing and converting device 11 for Pu and U. On the other hand, for the manufacture of a fast breeder MOX fuel 19, Pu in the mixed solution of Pu and U with long half-life nuclides eliminated via the device 10, is condensed in a mixing and extracting device 13 for Pu and U, and the mixed oxidized powder of Pu and U for a fast breeder is produced with mixing and converting device 14 for Pu and U.</p>
