The noise suppressor has a nozzle (31) which on its outlet side (30a) merges into a conical expansion chamber (32) whose greatest diameter ("d") is greater than the greatest diameter ("e") of the nozzle on the inlet side. The nozzle and the chamber have a conical angle of about 10 degrees to 150 degrees, and the greatest diameter ("d") of the chamber is roughly 1.3 to 1.5 times the greatest diameter ("e") of the nozzle on the inlet side (26a).
