A cooker time switch 1, which has a transmitting module 5, which transmits a signal given out by the cooker time switch 1, this signal marking the expiry of a preset time or the occurrence of a predetermined event, to a mobile receiver 7 which produces from this signal an acoustic or optical signal. The transmitting module 5 may be mounted on or in the time switch or may be movable to a more suitable location and connected to the time switch by way of an electric cable. The cooker time switch enables a user to notice the occurrence of the predetermined event even when at a distance away from the cooker.
